Even though I love the aroma and taste of apples and cinnamon throughout the year, there’s nothing quite like that spiced sweetness in the fall. I had you guys participate in an Instagram poll a few weeks back to help me choose what recipes you wanted to see in the fall - and today, I'm happy to tell you I am sharing one of the most scrumptious desserts you voted for, disguised as breakfast. Apple Cider Baked Doughnuts.

Take it all in, friends. These Apple Cider Baked Doughnuts hit every single mark for a delicious, delectable autumn treat. Where do I even begin? How about the soft, delicious dough, or all of the warm spices, or the fresh apples and cider? It's kind of hard to choose. Oh, and also, they’re dipped in cinnamon sugar for that extra burst of flavour and crunchy texture :)

Not only are they the perfect fall treat, they are particularly amazing for a weekend brunch or breakfast, (and possibly lunch and dinner if you have a sweet tooth like me). These doughnuts use less fat than their traditional fried counterparts, so you can get away with the healthy-ish standard.

Do doughnuts get any better than this? Me thinks not.

White granulated sugar
Apples

Tips for the Best Baked Apple Cider Doughnuts
Use Granny Smith and Ambrosia Apples for the perfect balance between sweet and tart. They're my favourite apples for baking!
Fill your doughnut pans using a piping/Ziplock bag to make it easier to distribute the doughnut batter.
