These Oreo brownies are WAY better the that stuff you get in brownie box mix! I'm here to tell you to ditch that stuff for good and whip up a batch of these super rich, super chocolatey brownies! They're loaded with tons of Oreos and lots of rich, chocolate flavour!

I am so excited to share these simple and delicious Oreo brownies with you today! These are so delicious and made with only a few ingredients. They're so easy to make! You know me and my easy recipes. I’m always looking for something speedy in the kitchen!

These brownies are fudgy, chewy and a chocoholic's dream! This dessert will satisfy all your chocolate cravings, and anything with chocolate is a winner in my book!

Ingredients for Oreo Brownies

Butter – For lots of flavour

Brown Sugar – Additional moisture and sweetness, creates shiny top by dissolving into water

Eggs – Moisture, helps to create that shiny top

Vanilla extract – For added flavour

Cocoa powder – For that rich chocolate flavor, but not so much that the brownies are dry

White all-purpose flour – Provides structure and chewiness

Coffee – Brings out the chocolate notes of the brownies

Salt – Balances the sweetness

Oreos – (or else these wouldn't be Oreo brownies!)

Creating That Shiny Crackly Brownie Crust

To create that crackly brownies crust, you have to dissolve the sugar in water. You may have seen recipes tell you to beat the eggs (eggs have water!) and sugar together, but I've found that sometimes that can overaerate the mixture and cause air bubbles in the brownies.

Instead, for this recipe, I've chosen to beat the butter and sugar together instead! Butter is 20% water, so I like to microwave the butter and sugar in 25 second increments and stir in between. You want the mixture to be brown and glossy to create that shiny top!

Why so much butter and sugar?

There is quite a bit of butter and sugar in this recipe because I didn't add chocolate in the recipe. Instead, I used cocoa powder which has a lower fat content than chocolate, and quite bitter without the sugar usually found in chocolate. Additional butter and sugar is used to compensate for the lack of fat and sugar in the cocoa powder.

Tips For Super Fudgy + Chewy Brownies

  • Let the brownies cool before you cut into them. This allows the butter in the brownies to come to room temperature and gives the brownies a fudgy chew, versus the melty texture you get when they come right out of the oven and the butter in the brownies is melted.

  • Use cocoa powder! Many recipes call for chocolate, but the results can be inconsistent. Different chocolate brands have different ratios of fat to sugar, which can alter the outcome of your brownies.

How to Store Brownies

Store these in an airtight container on the counter or in the fridge for up to 6 to 7 days or freeze for up to 3 months!
